Grant County, North Dakota, in 2012, Does Not Repeat its Aberrant Voting Behavior from 2008

Source: Ballot Access News

In November 2008, the official North Dakota election returns show that in one precinct in Grant County, North Dakota, Bob Barr (Libertarian presidential nominee) carried one of the four precincts, and placed second in the county to John McCain. See this story from four years ago for the details. Chuck Baldwin, the Constitution Party nominee in 2008, also did very well in that one precinct.

But in 2012, Grant County’s presidential vote was unexceptional. Gary Johnson polled 1.56% in the Read more »

Interview with Virgil Goode

Source: Independent Political Report

Virgil Goode, the 2012 Constitution Party presidential candidate, called me back the other day in response to my inquiry about the “fiscal cliff.”

Goode feels the fiscal cliff is not as bad as Obamacare, but will cause some problems, especially the increased taxes. But it is not as big of a problem as media is saying.

Goode says Obamacare a big problem for job creation. Small businesses do not want to hire because Read more »

Presidential Vote Totals So Far

Source: Ballot Access News

At least two states, Georgia and Wyoming, have released their official election returns for President (although Georgia hasn’t released write-in totals). A few other states have election web pages that continuously update, as more votes are counted; these states seem to be Alaska, Arizona, California, and Washington. Preliminary National Totals for Some Minor Party Presidential Candidates

Source: Ballot Access News

Google has compiled the national totals for various presidential candidates who were on the ballot, but they are very faulty. Google figures for Virgil Goode, for example, show less than 10,000, when the preliminary returns from the 26 states in which he was on the ballot yield a total of 108,195 votes. Google calculates 1,139,562 for Gary Johnson as of several hours ago, but of course all these numbers are constantly increasing as more votes are counted. Probably at least 8% of all votes nationwide still Read more »
