Elected Libertarian councilman campaigned on high city debt

Thanks to newly-elected Libertarian Erwin Haas, the people in Kentwood, Mich., a suburb of Grand Rapids, now know there’s a huge public debt problem.

Haas won a tightly contested race to unseat incumbent Maurice Groce by 68 votes, for the second ward seat of the city commission. The vote was 1,105 to 1,037. Read more »

Virginia Libertarian for governor vote total shows LP rising

Robert Sarvis won 6.5 percent of the vote in a hotly contested three-way race for governor of Virginia, easily surpassing the previous high won by a Libertarian for governor (0.8 percent in 2001) in the state.

It was the third-highest vote total for a Libertarian in a governor’s race in the party’s history, in any state. Read more »

Libertarian Levi Tappan wins city council election in Page, AZ

The city council of Page, Ariz., has a new member fighting to cut millions of dollars in spending and decrease taxes, thereby promoting new economic growth. Florida Libertarian Joseph Wendt netted 43% of vote on platform to abolish his office

Virginia Libertarian Party Nominates Rob Sarvis for Governor

On April 21, the Virginia Libertarian Party held a nominating convention and chose Rob Sarvis for Governor. He already has about 4,000 signatures but needs 10,000 valid by mid-June.
