The New Zealand Green Party recorded its best result yet in New Zealand’s November 26 general election. The Greens earned 10.6% of the vote (up from 6.7% in 2008) and increased their number of seats in parliament from 9 to 13. Syracuse, New York, held partisan city elections for city council on November 8, 2011. The Onondaga County Board of Elections web page says the official returns will be released by December 1. Massachusetts has released the official returns from the October 18, 2011 special election for State House in the Berkshire Third District. This is the race in which the Green Party nominee came close to winning. On November 9, the San Francisco Elections Department released additional election returns data, which makes it a virtual certainty that Ross Mirkarimi won the November 8 election for Sheriff of San Francisco County. Mirkarimi was one of the founders of the California Green Party, and while he was a registered member of the Green Party, he was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. Read more »
