by Mark Wachtler | Building on a surprisingly strong finish in the 2012 Presidential Election, the American Third Position Party has changed its name. Desiring a term that more accurately conveys their focus and mission, party leaders have chosen the name American Freedom Party. Organizers assure members that only the name is changing and the party’s passionate defense of freedom, as well as its platform, will remain the same.
The American Third Position, now the American Freedom Party, is a pro-American, conservative-right political party that focuses its platform on issues such as freedom, the US Constitution, and putting an end to the government sanctioned discrimination white Americans face every day. As the party’s Mission Statement reads, ‘government policy in the United States discriminates against white Americans, the majority population, and that white Americans need their own political party to fight this discrimination.’
In the 2012 Presidential election, the party’s candidate was Merlin Miller. Surprising his competitors, Miller finished in 9th place, ahead of a number of much larger parties and more well-known candidates. Miller tied Operation Rescue founder Randall Terry and finished ahead of the Presidential candidates from older and more established parties like the Reform Party, the Socialist Party, the Socialist Workers Party, Grassroots Party and the Prohibition Party.
