In 1994, Republican Steve Stockman (R-TX) upset longtime incumbent Democrat Jack Brooks in an east Texas congressional seat. While he lost two years later, during that time Stockman forged tight links on the ‘constitutional conservative’ right.
Now Stockman is running for Congress in TX-36. He faces Baytown businessman Steven Takach in a Republican primary runoff on July 31st. Stockman touts a variety of endorsements from figures connected to the Constitution Party on his website.

According to this news story, the Colorado Constitution Party’s nominee for Regent of the University of Colorado will be Tyler Belmont. He is now age 17, but he will be 18 by the time of the election, and thus eligible to serve if elected. Colorado elects Regents of the University in partisan elections. There are both at-large seats (covering the whole state) and seats representing districts. Belmont is running in the at-large seat.

The Jill Stein campaign believes it has received enough contributions to qualify for primary season matching funds. The paperwork will be submitted to the FEC for an official determination. Assuming she does receive the funds, she will be the second Green Party presidential candidate to have qualified; Ralph Nader in 2000 was the first. Nader received $664,151 in primary season matching funds in 2000.

Vermont requires independent candidates, and the nominees of unqualified parties, to submit 1,000 signatures (for statewide office) by June 14.
