Colorado Court Says El Paso County Must Print Primary Ballots for Democratic and Constitution Parties

On May 4, a lower state court in Colorado ruled that El Paso County election officials must print primary ballots for the Democratic Party, and the American Constitution Party, even though there are no contested primaries for those two parties. The primary is June 26. The county said it could have saved $68,000 if it had been allowed to avoid holding primaries for those parties. Read more »

Arkansas Green Party Nominates 14 Candidates for Partisan Office

On May 6, the Green Party of Arkansas held its nominating convention. It nominated candidates for all four U.S. House districts, 2 state legislative districts, and 8 local partisan offices. Also the convention chose a slate of delegates to the national Green Party convention that are all pledged to Jill Stein for President.

Michigan Secretary of State Says She Won’t Print Gary Johnson’s Name on the November Ballot as a Libertarian

On May 3, Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson, a Republican, sent a letter to the Michigan Libertarian Party, saying she would not print Gary Johnson’s name on the November 2012 ballot as the Libertarian nominee for President, should the party nominate him. This was in response to the Michigan Libertarian Party’s request for a ruling, which had been sent on March 27. Read more »

AR, ME, RI make Sweet 16 for Stein

Jill Stein is now sixteen for sixteen in the Green Party presidential primaries. This past weekend, Greens in Arkansas, Maine, and Rhode Island elected delegates to the Green National Convention. Dr. Stein won 10 of 10 delegates in Arkansas, 7 of 13 in Maine, and 2 of 4 in Rhode Island.

Geoffrey Neale elected Chairman of National Libertarian Party; Lee Wrights Vice Chairman

Today Geoffrey Neale of Texas was elected Chairman for the National Libertarian Party at its nominating convention in Las Vegas.

Geoff Neale, a software architect, also served as Chairman for the party from 2002 to 2004. He served five terms on the Libertarian National Committee and is a former Chairman for the Libertarian Party of Texas. Read more »
