Judge Roy Moore Wins Republican Nomination for Chief Justice of Alabama

Source: Independent Political Report

Judge Roy Moore, as he is still known, hasn’t been a judge since 2003 when he was removed from his position by the Alabama Court of the Judiciary. He is nevertheless known throughout the United States as the “10 Commandments Judge”. Moore ran for the Republican nomination for Governor of Alabama in 2006 and lost by a two-to-one margin. He was rumored to be a possible presidential candidate of the Constitution Party in every presidential election cycle since his removal from office–2004, 2008, and 2012. However, he is on the cusp of returning to his old seat as Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court, having just won the GOP nomination for that seat.

Judge Roy Moore was badly outspent by both of his opponents, with most of his funding coming from former Constitution Party presidential candidate and activist Michael Peroutka.
