Dr. Jill Stein has won the Illinois Green Party primary with 71% of the vote, making Illinois the fourth state in a row, following Ohio, Minnesota, and Maine, to give Stein a landslide mandate. The Illinois Green Party primary combined an online, secure vote of party members with regional caucuses. The results mean that Stein will likely receive 22 of 31 Illinois delegates to the Green National Convention in Baltimore this July. Read more »

North Carolina requires 85,379 valid signatures for a new party, or a statewide independent, to get on the ballot in 2012. That is the second highest number of any state, after California. Americans Elect earlier submitted 125,032 signatures, and the validation process shows that it has enough valid signatures. Thanks to Kevin Hays for this news.
