On November 8, the voters of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Portland, Maine, used Instant Runoff Voting for the first time, to elect city officials. St. Paul elected some city council members (from districts), and Portland elected a Mayor. Voters in both cities seemed to have little or no trouble using the new system.
