Candidate filing for Louisiana’s statewide election closes at 5 p.m. on September 8. So far, five candidates are running for Governor: one Republican, two Democrats, and two independents.
For Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, Treasurer, and Insurance Commissioner, only Republicans have filed. For Agriculture & Forestry Commissioner, there is one Republican, one Democrat, and one Reform Party member running. It is possible this list will grow before filing closes, but as this is being written, only two hours remain.
